9/22/2023 0 Comments Persona 3 fes or portable![]() ![]() I've always loved the female protagonist in Persona 3 Portable. I mean this with no hostility, but I gotta say it's rather interesting how having the female protagonist is what people think of as a "definitive" experience. The end results is that everyone is attributing malice ("They just want to sell us DLC or an updated re-release!" "They didn't hear our cries about having a definitive Persona 3!") to a decision that likely had no malice involved at all. Their article and the answers they gave seem very unsatisfactory. This is why I wish IGN had asked better interview questions. The team probably set out with the goal of "recreate the experience of playing Persona 3, but with modern systems, mechanics, visuals, and quality of life." Seeing as we know Persona and Atlus content (Metaphor) is coming on and off throughout 2026, maybe it's possible they also felt that developing such content might push it out of the intended timeframe, and decided not to? Plus, we know some animated cutscenes are in the game still. They had no issues doing so in Persona 5 and Royal. I'm not really worried about Atlus's ability to recreate the animated cutscenes in game. Nyx descending on the planet in the game's final battle is one of the best animated cutscenes in the game, and it's been completely ruined in Portable. Their exclusion is indeed one of the biggest losses of Portable. ![]() There are a lot of animation errors everywhere. But the poor quality of most of the cutscenes has been suspected as a reason. I don't think anyone actually knows for sure why the studio was credited under an alias. ![]()
